Exhaust is moving forward!
Again, thanks to Wendy's folks Don & Denise! Last years' birthday cash is funding this well-worth-it upgrade!

Rivet Nuts (WHOA! A NEW POST)
Here's what I started with:
After drilling the hole, you thread the rivet-nut onto the mandrel, insert it in the hole and then SQUEEZE!
And here's what you get on the backside!
Some thoughts--the Harbor Freight tool seems to work just fine.
I paid $29.?? for 100 10-24 rivet-nuts at Grainger (P/N 5RB29)
I should have gone a size smaller, like the (8-32)

WHEELS!!!
Sunday, February 8, 2009
Back on the wagon
Well, let's see. The car is a roller now and is awaiting some new wheels generously supplied by my dad as a birthday & Christmas gift. Thanks SO MUCH DAD! I ordered rear tires and they arrived a few weeks ago. The UPS man did his best to hide them, but 315's are HUGE! THANKS SO MUCH to Don & Denise for the Christmas spending cash that bought these!
A neighbor and interested friend, Gary Graham, helped me slide the engine and transmission in last November. I then started a long process of cutting and bending aluminum in order to make the passenger side footbox a little larger. I finished that up yesterday. Also yesterday, I installed the battery box in the trunk area and made a bracket for the fuel pressure regulator. I should get the fuel plumbing done next. List of "other stuff" I've completed:
- Installed new fuel-level sender
- Fuel lines installed up to the engine bay
- Passenger side aluminum installed
- Parking brake cables and handle installed
- All brake lines installed--brakes are done except for filling and bleeding
- I ordered my final gauge (volt meter)--Thanks to MOM for the summit racing gift certificate that bought that!

THANK YOU, MY WONDERFUL WIFE!
BTW--we've been married 10 years now! What a wonderful person to be married to!
After I get the fuel system completed, I'm going to push to get the engine wired and started. Then vehicle wiring, more aluminum work, dash installation with gauges and a few other things. I'll be "go-carting" before long!

I was contacted by Ralph Button through the http://www.ffcobra.com/ web forum. Ralph said he'd be in Amarillo for a few days. I was excited to meet Ralph; he's famous on the forum as having traveled the most miles in his FFR. He drove it from Arkansas to Amarillo in JANUARY. He has about 390,000 miles on it at this point. Ralph was nice enough to take me for a spin. It was really great to meet him!
That's all for now. I hope people still check this out!?!? I'll try to post on Sunday's what I've accomplished for the week.
Oh, just in case anyone is interested, here's some forum threads I've started on www.ffcobra.com
